After much discussion we can now announce that the next Cornwall Social Media Café will take place in the Vertigo Bar, Truro on the night of Tuesday 12th May.

Local web development company, UKNetWeb will be sponsoring the event with £50.00 towards some light snacks and food for everyone

The event will follow a similar path to last time, with the introduction of a couple of topics for light conversation…

Digital Britain – Unconference

CSMC member, Fiona Campbell-Howes (@patroclus), suggested that we chat about the Digital Britain report and some of the issues that potentially affect the digital industry and the wider community here in Cornwall.

The official government deadline for feedback was in March, but BBC journalist, commentator and technology critic, Bill Thomson (@billt) who is one of the people organizing the 'unconferences' says that unofficially the government is still listening, with the final report due to be published in early summer.

Fiona will bring some copies of the report and will prepare our feedback for publication on the CSMC blog and to be passed back to the Unconference organisers.

[I must stress that this will be a very informal discussion and will not take the form of presentations, speeches or other such formality. Those not wishing to take part can continue as they please. ]

The Future of Cornwall Social Media Café

Laura (@laura_mckay2009)and I would love to get your feedback on how we run future events. Principally the key questions emerging at the moment appear to be:

• Should the Café be on the same night each month?
• Should meetings travel around Cornwall or stay in one location?
• Should there be speakers, topics of other elements added to the agenda?
